Explorer Scouts

Explorer Scouts are young people, usually aged between 14 and 18 years old. They make up the fourth Section of the Scouting family.

Explorer Scouts often work with other Explorer Scouts in their District, not just their own Unit.

Awards and badges

There are 3 top awards which a young person can earn as an Explorer Scout or member of the Scout Network. They are the Chief Scout's Platinum & Diamond Awards and the Queen's Scout Award. Explorer Scouts often also work towards the Duke of Edinburgh awards and Central Notts has a well developed DofE programme.

Between the age of 17½ to 18 an Explorer Scout can complete the "Moving on" Award and become a member of the Scout Network.

More information about Explorer Scouts in the UK, can be found at the UK scouting web site.

There are 6 Explorer Scout units across the Central Notts district if you would like to find out about a unit near you then please contact the District Explorer Scout Commissioner (details on the Contacts page).

To become an Explorer Scout a young person must attend a Unit regularly and make the Scout Promise.

The Scout Promise

On my honour, I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and the Queen
To help other people
And to keep the Scout Law.
